Travel Insurance Consultants (TIC) is a division of Santam Limited, the largest Short Term Insurer in South Africa. TIC is an authorised Financial Service Provider and is a member of ASATA (Association of South African Travel Agents).

TIC offers you 3 different plans to choose from:

  • Leisure Comprehensive – has the highest limits, including pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Leisure Standard – excludes pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Senior – for travellers from ages 71-79 years.

Cover is limited for leisure purposes only.
Leisure sports are automatically covered, however please speak to a consultant if you are planning on any extreme activity.
Cover is worldwide.


How do I get it?

Call the TIC Help Desk on 011 521 4000 (option 1) and provide the consultant with the following information:

  • Full name of traveller
  • ID number
  • Contact details
  • Date of departure from South Africa
  • Date of return to South Africa
  • Destination
  • Participation in any sporting activities

Using the benefit:

  • Medical cover for pre-existing conditions is only available on the Leisure Comprehensive plan.
  • Pre-existing medical conditions cover in-hospital expenses only.
  • Cardiac and cerebrovasular conditions are excluded for senior travellers.
  • Loss of luggage must be reported to the local police authority where the loss occurred.
  • Extreme and/or professional sports are excluded unless a sporting extension is purchased.
  • Cover is limited to a maximum of 365 days on Leisure Comprehensive and Standard and 92 days on Seniors.

Lodging a claim:

  • You can lodge a claim directly online  or,
  • Download  the claim form, complete it, scan and email it through to the claims department, [email protected], together with your supporting documentation or,
  • Call the claims department for any assistance on 011 521 4000 (option 3).
